DPP IS ONE STEP CLOSER

🏎️ In July, the EU moved DPP one step closer to reality. The Commission published the first harmonized standards for Digital Product Passports. Its guidance is clear: rollout will happen progressively by product group, businesses should start preparing now, and once the relevant delegated acts land, there's a transition period of at least 18 months.

What this really means:

DPP isn't a "drop everything and launch a project" moment. But it's no longer vague enough to ignore.

5 realistic steps to take now:

✅ 1. Check your exposure.
Look at your product categories and whether they fall into the priority timeline or related EU product legislation.

✅ 2. Assign one internal owner for DPP readiness.
Not a full project team. Just clear ownership. If nobody owns it, it will stay “important” and go nowhere.

✅ 3. Assess your data readiness.
Where do your identifiers live? Who owns product data? What supplier data is missing? Which systems would need to contribute? Start with a map, not a software purchase.

✅ 4. Track sector-specific rules, not just DPP headlines.
The Commission is explicit that requirements will come progressively by product group. The real signal will come through delegated acts and sector-specific legislation, not general noise.

✅ 5. Plan before you invest.
For most businesses, this is a readiness task now, not a full rollout. Do the assessment work first, then decide when deeper investment is justified.

DPP still isn't an immediate fire. But it's moved from rumor to real prep. The smart move isn't panic — it's readiness.
